Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge (or what you might do differently next time).

On the worksheet, the metaphors were the most difficult thing for me. When ever I was doing a comparison, naturally, I use like or as. So you can see how trying to compare two different things without those words is difficult. I thought I had the hang of it, but when I reviewed the sentence there was a like or as hidden in there. I am not the best with metaphors now but I surely have improved. I will keep practicing because I cant only use similes to compare 2 different things. Today in class we worked a little on our computers. We also filled out a metaphor similes sheet.  Today I learned how to drain a transmission.

Today you created similes and metaphors that reflect your struggles, growth, and resilience. In a well-developed paragraph, reflect on the process. What did you learn about yourself while writing your figurative language?

Something I have realized about myself is that I can create many similes about my life. I learned more about the difference between similes and Metaphors. At first I couldn't tell the difference. I never understood comparing 2 things without using like or as. It was just so much simpler. Now I have seen many examples and it is more understanding of me on this subject. Today In class I listened to music. I also had to restart my project due to a misunderstanding. Today I learned about a Roxar car brand.

Prompt: Describe how you spent your time, any activities, traditions, travel, hobbies, or moments that stood out to you. You may also discuss something new you tried, something you learned, or how the break helped you reset before returning to school. Keep your response appropriate for a school setting and focus on experiences you are comfortable sharing publicly

I spend a lot of time with my friends. They play a major role in my life. I like going to lakeside and shooting lacrosse with them. When we have nothing to do, sometimes we just drive around. If I'm alone at home I will play a lot of apex. I play with with my friends too. That's when it is the most fun. My last favorite thing to do is to sleep. I will always have a passion for that. Today in class I wasn't there. I was on a plane. Today I learned that Delta is better then KLM.

If you had to describe how you show love using only three objects (for example: a playlist, a hoodie, a late-night snack, a long text message, etc.), what would you choose and why? Explain what each object represents and how it connects to your personality.

I show love with gifts, words, and actions. I show love with gifts by giving loved ones thoughtful gifts I think they would enjoy. I show love with words by saying things I hope make their day a great day. I show love with my actions by doing things that show my appreciation like giving random hugs.  I wasn't in class today. I think we had a chill day. I learned today that my friend is the best wrestler in the state.

Now that you have completed the rhetorical analysis essay, reflect on your growth. Explain how this experience impacted your confidence as a writer and whether you feel prepared to continue analyzing complex speeches and texts in American Literature. Support your reflection with specific references to the writing process.

I feel like coming out of this I will feel more confident as writer. I am starting to unconsciously notice the emotions (pathos, logos, ethos). I feel from the essay I will remember quotes like "chorus of cynics" and calling them a "A loud voice but not a powerful one." I understand that continuing to read complex literature is still difficult for me, I will get better the more I do it. Another complex piece we've done was Trumps speech. This was one of the more complex than others as I never paid attention to the poems. It was a big chance for my progressive literature because the last book I have read was Harry Potter.  Today in class we wrote our essay on the rhetorical analysis of Barack Obama's "Yes, we can" speech delivered in New Hampshire. That took up my attention for the whole class. Today I learned how to find the rectangular coordinates with questions on ellipses.

Today, you learned how to complete a rhetorical analysis planning guide step by step, from identifying the rhetorical situation to analyzing devices and effects. Reflect on one step of the rhetorical analysis process that helped you understand the process more clearly. Explain what you learned during that step and how it improved your ability to analyze a speaker’s message.

I have gotten better at analyzing the rhetorical devices inside of a text. This helps me because to do a rhetorical analysis I have to be able to find these in a document. No matter whether that document is a speech or something else. This helps me to analyze the speakers message because I can name the device being used to furthermore understand the message trying to be conveyed. Today in class we read a speech by Barack Obama. We also filled out a organizer for our own rhetorical analysis essay. Today I learned how to master downshifting in a 2009 Honda accord.

What is the best piece of advice of that your parent or guardian has given you? Tell what the advice was and what prompted you to ask the question.

The best piece of advice that I was given was how to self improve. My dad told me that the only person I need to beat was my older self and every second is a new self. This helps to motivate me to go to the gym. It helps me accomplish much of all of the tasks I need to complete each day. When I am feeling sluggish I just think about how past selves weren't lazy during this time. This makes me constantly ask myself am I improving. If I feel the answer is no then I do something to make it a yes. Today we took notes. I also completely forgot this blog post. Today I learned how bad the traffic is to the airport.

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day week, describe your idea of a perfect day spent with someone you care about (a friend, family member, or significant person in your life).

A perfect day with my friend would be waking up and feeling refreshed. I would get up and my hair would look good already. I sit up and there is water next to me.  I get dressed and go to cracker barrel with my friend. After breakfast we go home and sleep again. Then I get on apex. After I go to the school because we have a lacrosse game. The team we are playing are okay but we know were gonna win. We have burritos for pregame and go to the game. We win and get waffle house after. I go home to more apex and then fall asleep around 2. I wasn't at school today. I was on a plane and watched the terrible new Jurassic park. Today I learned to never watch Jurassic park again. It ended with Chris Pratt.

What is the most challenging part of working in a group? Discuss a time when a group assignment did not go as well as you planned and how you learned from that experience.

The most difficult part about working in a group is that everyone has different opinions. This sometimes can make it super hard to come to an agreement. At the same time this helped because it can help you to have ideas that you would never have thought of. Like when I was trying out for the stem team in 4th grade I wanted to be in control. But I learned fast, many different ideas and opinions can combine and create the best ideas. I learned from this to be open to new ideas and opinions. Today in class I wasn't here for most of it. When I got here we were working on essays. Today I learned the back roads from Duluth to here.

What is the most challenging part of writing an essay for you? Is it brainstorming, organizing ideas, writing a strong thesis, or something else? How do you plan to overcome this challenge?

My biggest weakness is overthinking. When it comes to writing essays, I even overthink the thesis. I would create a thesis,s but then not be able to think of other supporting reasons. I get past this by just putting my thoughts down and drawing lines to connect them. This helped me visualize my ideas. Sometimes I just think so fast that I can't tie things together. Thispreventss mefrom connectingt thoughts or evidence. Today in class, we worked on writable. I also finished this blog. Today I learned how to play Apex.

Describe a real moment in your life that felt like the beginning of a powerful story. Tell what happened, and why it felt like a turning point in your life?

A moment in my life would be when I got my license. With my license, I just gained so much freedom. I started creating so many stories when I acquired my license. It felt like a turning point because before I had relied on friends and family to transport myself places. But with my own licence and car, I could be more self-sufficient. This helps me to get to places without the reliance on other people. Today in class, we createdourt own rhetorical analysis. I also completed this blog post. Today I learned how to write a claim for a rhetorical analysis.
