Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge (or what you might do differently next time).

On the worksheet, the metaphors were the most difficult thing for me. When ever I was doing a comparison, naturally, I use like or as. So you can see how trying to compare two different things without those words is difficult. I thought I had the hang of it, but when I reviewed the sentence there was a like or as hidden in there. I am not the best with metaphors now but I surely have improved. I will keep practicing because I cant only use similes to compare 2 different things.

Today in class we worked a little on our computers. We also filled out a metaphor similes sheet.

Today I learned how to drain a transmission.

Of today’s 15 vocabulary words, which three do you think you will use the most in your speaking and writing this semester? Explain why each word feels useful or powerful to you.

Words shape how we think, write, and interpret literature. Think about a time when learning a new word or understanding a specific term helped you better analyze a text, express an idea, or make your writing stronger.
