Write about a meaningful object or place in your life that carries a story.

A meaningful place is Lake Hartwell. I've grown up there, and the memories I have there are fulfilling. Since I can remember, that place has been my safe space. I have been driving boats since I could walk. Everything about the lake comforts me. From when I was a little kid, we have been having water balloon fights on the back porch. Somehow, it was always me against all my siblings and their friends.

In class today we had our picture day for the yearbook. We also reviewed a Navajo creation story.

Today I learned that Navajo is very similar to Christianity in the way of reflecting on Jesus and figures like that.

Reflect on a time when you paused to appreciate the beauty of nature, much like the speaker in “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.” Where were you, what did you notice, and how did that moment of stillness make you feel or change your perspective?

Of today’s 15 vocabulary words, which three do you think you will use the most in your speaking and writing this semester? Explain why each word feels useful or powerful to you.

Words shape how we think, write, and interpret literature. Think about a time when learning a new word or understanding a specific term helped you better analyze a text, express an idea, or make your writing stronger.
